The hummingbirds are hungry and the kitchen is occupied with producing sugar water by the galons. I have started on the seventh 10 pound bag of sugar to produce the magic juice that keeps our hummers well supplied with instant energy.
Next comes the filling of recycled glass bottles. These are a very handy size. One pot of sugar water fills three bottles.
And finally into cold storage they go, filling up the entire top of the refrigerator. This constitutes a two day supply, needed until the Hummers disapear into the prairie for a few weeks.
And now it won’t be long before I get a well deserved break from cooking for the birds. As you can see, the roses are in full bloom.
One of the three seedings, we trans-planted last year along the fence, is already in bloom. How precious is that?
Off course the roses are also much appreciated by our curious girls:
You’ve guest it, it’s Sophia behind the rosebush waiting for mom to be finished with taking pictures. And here is Lilly, who never gets tired of being outside.
