Well it’s that time of year again when the Hummers are camping out at the feeders in order to bulk up for the long flight South. But humming birds are not the only creatures attracted to the nectar right now – wasps are trying to take over. Needless to say, its getting a little tricky to change the feeders without getting stung.
At least this year the wasps are small and not the super aggressive yellow jackets who made it almost impossible to feed the hummers a few years back. Of course, even the little wasps are a challenge. The other day, a persistent one followed me into the house and promptly stung me on the neck.
Oh well, what don’t we do for the love of the little emerald jewels we call Humming birds.
