It is always a love fest when these dogs get together and there are many funny stories to tell.
On our recent road trip to visit my sister we boarded Sophia and Lilly at the Cedarsprings kennel in East Dubuque. The girls had a good time at their spacious accommodations and their days were spent with lots of outdoor play among Mary’s Labrador crew. On our return Mary told me that Lilly had acted as Sophia’s protector.
Evidently, Lilly guarded Sophia every time our shy Berner girl sought privacy by sitting in a corner. To fully appreciate the hilarity of that picture you have to know that the little spit fire Lilly will relentlessly stalk Sophia at home. Our 22 pound featherweight Lilly will ambush and tumble the strapping 63 pound Sophia every chance she gets.
Here are the girls catching a breath before the next chase:
After our return the girls were off to the Urban Hound for grooming.
There, as promised by MarieJosee, Berner Ted was eagerly awaiting the girls arrival. Ted is a BARC rescue who was adopted by MarieJosee earlier this year. He is a gorgeous Berner boy who tackles life with gusto. As a matter of fact, his new family had to install a sizable fence for him in order to keep him from joyfully exploring the neighborhood every time they opened the door.
As you can see, Ted who is sitting at the right, is a big boy:
And finally, there is BARC’s Emma who only three months ago was adopted by Greg, also in Dubuque Iowa. Theirs is a match made in heaven and the two are inseparable.
Emma also visits the Urban Hound whenever her dad finds it necessary to get the burrs and lose hair out of her coat. Emma too has learned to enjoy her baths, and according to Greg, she no longer trembles when they arrive at the Urban Hound.
On Friday’s everyone loves to play with Greg as you can see:
Lilly and Greg, with the Berners not far behind.
And after all the romping, a happy Emma gets her belly rubbed.
What could be better than three Berners and an American Eskimo Dog? Life is good!!!
